Express FM A new community station has started in Portsmouth, which I’m proud to be a part of! Catch me every Friday night from 7-9pm on 93.7 Express FM. You can pick up Express from Chichester to Southampton, & everywhere in between! PURE:FM I have been at PURE (Portsmouth University Radio Experience) for over two years now. I started with a dance show on Fridays from 5-7, which I still do to the present. In 2005 I was also awarded with a second show as the ‘Voice of Pure’ that was played to prospective students on open days. Later on in 2005, I have joined the committee, and am now Head of Studio Technology & Treasurer! To add to the work load, in early 2006 I had the idea of producing an hour long pre-recorded mix show to go out late night on Pure. This has been very successful, with a team of residences & also several guest mixes! As the first listen again show on Pure, it has pulled in a dedicated following! Spirit FM In 2000 I did a weeks work experience with Spirit FM, as local station based in Chichester. During the week I was able to experience all aspects of the station, from marketing to driving the desk! Events Here are a highlight of some of my radio related events … May 06 The Friday Night Mix – LIVE from Lux! After an exciting day at the societys carnival, luged to OB equipment into Lux night club for an extended 3hour Friday night mix, broadcasting on both Pure & Express FM (more to come) Societys Carnival – A whole days worth of Outside Broadcast, Live from Ravlin park on Pure! Ryan & myself organised the OB, as well as hosting the main stage for the day! (More 2 come!) April 06 Boxing in Lux – A first for The University & for Pure! A night of Boxing was put on in club Lux. I organised for Pure to be there & commentate on the event Live! An awesome night! (even tho I look bored in the photo – lol) Pure @ Purple Wednesday! – The first Wednesday back at Uni since the Easter break, & Pure Rocked the joint with another legendary OB from Club Lux Express FM’s First Outside Broadcast, from Gun Warf! I was part of the OB team interviewing people Live on air & also pre-recorded. It was great to get out & about & meet new listeners & the people of Portsmouth! March 06 UPSU Elections coverage! – As part of the UPSU elections, we at Pure put on 6 special shows to quiz the candidates over their manifestos & policies. I was involved in presenting & producing some of these shows & also produced pod casts of them each night! Sara Jorge interview – Up & coming pop star Sara Jorge popped into the studio for a quick chat about her new single Beautiful World Express FM Launch – Monday 20^th March, new community station express FM launches! My first show will be on Friday 24^th March from 7pm! Febuary 06 Pure @ Purple Wednesday! – The first outing of 2006 for the OB unit at Pure, & we had a storming night! December 05 Pure at the Xmas Ball – Pure’s first off site OB! – Using the uni’s WIFI network we were able to broadcast the output of the main stage at the Christmas ball held in Portsmouth’s Guild Hall! On stage the act’s included the Union’s resident DJ’s, The Chip Shop Boys & RACHEL STEVENS!!!! Above, Ryan, Ted & Myself (The Pure Dream Team of OB’s) Pure @ Purple Wednesday – Again we returned the OB unit to Lux for another fantastic night hosted by Pure! November 05 Sara Cox – Following in the footsteps of Scott Mills, Sara Cox played the Union. Again, I was there with my microphone to interview her! Purple Wednesday – A big first for Pure! We took over club Lux & Broadcast the evening on Pure. Awesome Night! October 05 Freshers Fair – During the two days of the fair PURE hosted the Live stage. We had demos from clubs & societies and behind the dex’s was my good self! We also broadcasting most of it Live on Pure! Scott Mills - Scott Played ‘Flirt’ at the Union & after the gig I was lucky enough to be able to get an interview with him! Check out PURE:FM for the interview!
